Best of the Content Strategy Forum 2011 links
Content strategists from 20 countries on five continents attended last week’s Content Strategy Forum 2011. So what did the conversation involve? Here’s our pick of conference links, notes and presentations.
1. Announcing CS Forum 2012 Day one brought the exciting news that Content Strategy Forum, which Firehead helped organise in Paris in 2010, and which moved to London in 2011, will take place in 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa.
2. Where does content strategy sit? A nice slide showing a tree diagram of strategy levels and content strategy responsibilities.
3. Martin Belam’s conference write-ups (PDF) A PDF of notes taken by the Guardian’s Lead UX & IA at eight different sessions.
4. James from Koozai’s blogged notes Another useful set of notes on CS Forum 2011.
5. Slides, presentations and notes More conference coverage and links on Lanyard.
6. Lightning talks – five-minute video presentations by:
- Nicole Jones: The Intentional Strategist
- Sara Wachter-Boettcher: A New Breed of Content Strategist
- Matthew Grocki: Content Strategy: No Longer Just a Marketing Initiative
- Shelly Wilson: Creating Responsive Content from the Bottom Up
7. T-shirt of the day was worn by Charlie Peverett of iCrossing UK with ‘You can shove your lorem ipsum right up your CMS’.
8. Social media round-up Lauren Pop’s curated Storify of opinions, tweets, slides, links and pictures.
9. Content strategists: the men and women of a new renaissance Eric Reiss from FatDUX Group in Denmark on content strategy, content strategists, title creep and building shared references across different disciplines. Interesting crossover in light of our recent summer jobs survey, which showed that different CS jobs seem to have different focuses depending on whether the budget-holder is a marketing department or one with a more technical focus.
10. Infographic: How did we get here? The well-trodden paths towards content strategy Another lovely visualisation from Richard Ingram. Don’t forget to click again to view it at a larger size.
The next big conference on our agenda is Technical Communication UK (TCUK) which takes place next week in the UK. We’re extra-excited because Firehead will be flying in to co-present a content strategy case study from the European trenches – full story here.
