Is Your Blog On Topic?

There’s no doubting blogs are great, search engines love the fresh content delivered by them and they are readily devoured and pinged as new posts are added. This has a great search engine optimisation effect for many blogs with many, including mine enjoying strong rankings across search engines for key terms. It is for this reason that many companies are integrating blogs on their websites. However, how do you make sure that your blog remains relevant, on topic and not a free-for-all or a soapbox for opinions?
It helps to write blog content on at least a weekly basis to ensure that it remains active, up-to-date, relevant and impartial. This is a great way to continously increase awareness of your business and products – and there are great tools out there such as “Wordles” that can create a visual record of how on-topic your blog is.
“What is a Wordle?” do I hear you ask? Try it yourself on the Woordle site. A wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text.
Firehead’s blog focuses on developments in the IT Technical Communications industries, from the viewpoint of a recruiter, and as you can see from our newest Wordle above, the words most frequently seen in our blog are “Communication”, “Google”, “Netbooks”, “Trends” and “Internet” because these are the things I’ve recently been blogging about in our industry.
As we at Firehead say to all our clients and candidates: “Your success is our passion.” To find out how we can help you succeed in the maze of job hunting in today’s market, contact us today.
