Content Strategy Market Survey Results

Posted on May 20, 2010 by: Firehead

Check out this link from Eat Media: 2010 Content Strategy Survey Results.

Ian Alexander of Eat Media did a survey of companies EatMedia considers to be plugged in and got some interesting results. I’d like to personally thank them for taking this on – it’s very helpful and enlightening for the whole community.

I’d say it’s clear that companies are getting the picture if they rate content strategy higher than social media for their communication needs. Maybe social media is already saturated? (Or not really being used correctly, but that’s another topic…)

More use contracted content strategists than in-house. This may change, but as a new field, this isn’t entirely surprising. A big majority thought that a content strategy plan is the CS’s primary deliverable, so it makes sense they would be looking for a contract at this point. (Ah, but there’s so much more!…)

A couple of surprises (to me):

Companies rated higher needs for upcoming eNewletters than for large websites for content strategy work requirements.
And SEO wasn’t mentioned very much. I wish I could get more people to seperate these two.

Read the survey – it’s very enlightening.
